Sheet Metal Bending Thickness And Radius On Pressbrake

The bending radius of sheet metal is related to the thickness of sheet bending material, the pressure of the bending machine and the width of the lower die groove of the bending die. Experience in actual sheet metal processing shows that when the plate thickness is generally no more than 6mm, when bending, the inner radius of sheet metal bending can directly use the plate thickness as the radius.

When the plate thickness is over 6mm and less than 12mm, the bending radius in the plate is generally 1.25 to 1.5 times of the plate thickness. When the plate thickness is not less than 12mm, the bending radius in the plate is generally 2 to 3 times the plate thickness.

When the bending radius is r=0.5, the general sheet metal thickness t is equal to 0.5mm. If the radius size larger or smaller than the plate thickness is required, it needs to be processed with a special mold.

When the sheet metal drawing requires the sheet metal to be bent by 90 ° and the bending radius is particularly small, the sheet metal should be grooved first and then bent. It can also process special bending machine mold, upper mold and lower mold.

Normally use narrow grooves under the condition that we have requirements for the bending radius of the plate and do not damage the mold of the bending machine. Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to operate in the ratio of standard plate thickness to slot width of 1:8. The minimum shall not be less than the ratio of plate thickness to groove width of 1:6. The sheet metal bending can be appropriately smaller, and shall not be less than the ratio of plate thickness to groove width of 1:4. Suggestion: if the strength allows, the method of grooving first and bending first is preferred to make a small bending radius of sheet metal.

Multi V die for

According to the empirical value, the free bending radius is about 0.156 times of the opening size of the V-groove. For example, when 2mm low carbon steel is bent with 16mm V-groove opening size, the bending radius of sheet metal parts is about r=2.5mm. If the bending radius of the sheet metal bending equipment is close to or less than the thickness of the material, it must be formed with a bottom concave die. However, the pressure required for forming with the bottom die is about 4 times greater than that of free bending.

Knowing the bending radius of 2mm sheet metal, how to determine the bending radius of SolidWorks sheet metal? Whether it is set according to r=2.5mm is not necessary. When bending 90 °, it is only necessary to set bending deduction in SolidWorks. When calculating sheet metal unfolding by SolidWorks bending deduction, the bending radius is not affected, and the unfolding size is only related to bending deduction.
